Dick will discuss his new book, People Like Your and Me: A History of Monrovia in World War II, in a special program Saturday, July 29, at 2 p.m. in the Community Room of the Monrovia Public Library. The event is free and is sponsored jointly by the Library, the Monrovia Historical Society and the Monrovia Historical Museum. Copies of the book will be available for purchase with all proceeds going to support Monrovia’s historical heritage.
Singer, who had a thirty-year career in community journalism, is former editor and associate publisher of the Foothill Intercity Newspapers, which included the Monrovia News-Post. He subsequently served as Executive Vice-President of the Monrovia Chamber of Commerce from 1990 to 2000, then for a decade as the City of Monrovia’s Public Information Officer. He retired in 2010.
